EnVision's Overwatch Contenders Team

EnVision has joined the games. The canadian esports organization dropped its first Overwatch Contenders team on June 26.

Team owner Artur Minacov made a post on Twitter on Tuesday, stating, “I am writing this tweet with a lot of sadness and frustration. As of today, I am officially announcing the release of our Overwatch roster.” The roster listed Caleb “McGravy” McGarvey, Anothony “Fire” King, Jason “Jaru” White, Bryan “iShiny” McCarthy, William “Crimzo” Hernandez and Casey “buds” McIlwaine as the team’s players.

Minacov’s frustration came out due to how people treat Overwatch Contender teams not associated with Overwatch League organizations, struggling to find support in building his Overwatch team. The players, however, are free to sign on with other Overwatch teams if the opportunity arises.

While Envision officially dropped its esports team, the organization has been competing in various Overwatch tournaments since 2017. The team has already shown great production in its competitions, placing in the top four at Overwatch Contenders 2018 season one North America tournament. The recent placement in the top four qualified the Envision team for Overwatch Contenders 2018 season two tournament.

"Through the past year and a half, I have been investing a lot of funds into creating a tier one Overwatch team," Minacov wrote. "Before Overwatch League, it seemed possible, but today, it is a whole other story."

Minacov has not said anything further about the tier two Overwatch team aside from voicing his frustrations toward Blizzards. He tweeted “if you are not an Overwatch League team, you are nobody to [Blizzard].”

The Overwatch Contenders Season 2 will kick off in July with Envision set in Group B with their next match scheduled for July 5 and will face Skyfoxes.
